Join us on 22 May for Umhlali Padel Day — a full afternoon of competitive padel, a fishing competition, and our Play It Forward fundraising challenge, Laps Around the Macs, in aid of Thembeni Primary School. Whether you’re a seasoned padel player, a keen fisherman, or you’re coming to cheer on the kids as they run laps for their school — this is a day for the whole Umhlali community to come together, compete, and give back. Day Schedule 15:00 – 16:00 Kids’ Padel Americano — 4 courts, 16 players 15:00 – 17:00 Fishing Competition begins Laps Around the Macs — Play It Forward fundraiser 16:00 – 18:00 Adults’ Padel Americano — 4 courts, 32 players The Padel Americano We’re running a full Americano format — a round robin within pools where partners rotate every round. It’s fast, fair, and guarantees every player sees plenty of court time. Kids’ Session — 15:00 to 16:00 16 players across 4 courts Each court is its own Americano pool Partners rotate every round — each player plays 3 matches Individual point scoring — ranked 1st to 4th per court Fun, fast, and high energy — no playoffs for the kids Adults’ Session — 16:00 to 18:00 32 players across 8 courts Round robin pool play — partners rotate every round Each player plays 3 matches in pool rounds Players ranked 1st to 4th within their court Playoff Structure After pool play, players progress based on their court ranking: Cup — All 1st place finishers advance to the semi-finals (Courts 1 & 2), then the final Plate — All 2nd place finishers compete in a playoff round (Court 3) Shield — All 3rd place finishers compete in a playoff round (Court 4) Spoon — All 4th place finishers compete in a playoff round (When the finals are being played) One court will be kept open throughout for social play and mock matches. Fishing Competition Running from 15:00 to 17:00, the fishing competition gives non-padel participants and spectators a chance to get in on the action. Cast your line, compete for the catch of the day, and enjoy the afternoon outdoors. More details on the fishing format and categories will be shared closer to the day. Play It Forward — Laps Around the Macs From 15:00 to 17:00, we’re running our community fundraising challenge in aid of Thembeni Primary School . Participants run laps around the macadamia trees on the property, with parents and supporters sponsoring a rand amount per lap. Sign up your child (or yourself) on the day Get sponsored — any amount per lap, no minimum Run as many laps as you can between 15:00 and 17:00 All funds go directly to classroom resources for Thembeni Primary School No entry fee for Laps Around the Macs. Your ticket enters you into either the Kids’ or Adults’ Americano session (please select the correct session at checkout). Spectators, fishing participants, and Laps Around the Macs participants attend free of charge. Spots are limited — 32 adults and 16 kids. Secure your place early.
